Wired Italia posted my reportage from the Japanese (ero)game show DREAMPARTY 2009 held in Tokyo Big Sight few days ago. This edition was really interesting since there were many itasha displayed among tons of new bishoujo games!

As a preview for the upcoming Shizuoka Hobby Show 2009 HPI RACING just revealed a new ITASHA RC CAR dedicated to “Shakugan no Shana” (spotted by modellismo Hobby Media).

This “Shakugan no Shana” car is based on the  HPI E10 chassis. The E10 is a four-wheel drive, factory-assembled, fully prepared 1/10th scale RC car from the same world-renowned HPI design team that is famous for user friendliness, racer appeal and usability.
In each box there will be two decals sets dedicated to the manga version and to the anime version.

During the Tokyo Hobby Show 2008 (All Japan Radicon Plamodel Hobby Show) I spotted the latest model of the Aoshima Itasha  plastic kit model cars series: CLANNAD (eroge) and STRIKERS.

This year I couldn't attend the Dreamparty (held on sunday 12 october) but miety posted these cool photos of an itasha with a very special steering wheel!

After the huge success of the Suzumiya Haruhi model car Aoshima announced the second model of this Itasha Model series. This time the car (a Toyota Corolla AE86) features decals with illustrations from the visual novel To Heart 2.
I met Aoshima at the Nuremberg Toy Fair and it seems that they are interested in the European and American markets so there is the chance that these itasha series, sooner or later, will be officially distributed in our countries.

In novemberI I reported about this beautiful model car dedicated to our Haruhi Suzumia. Today Akiba blog spotted the model kit on sale in Akiba.
This kit is produced by Aoshima and is a 1/24 scale reproduction of an FD3S RX-7  (with an itasha customization).

When I found this photo I tought it was one of the old Forza Motorsport 2 custom cars created by Japanese gamers. Instead Aoshima decided to produce a 1/24 scale reproduction of an FD3S RX-7  with an itasha customization  dedicated to Haruhi Suzumia. This car is the first model of the new Itasha Plamodel Series and will debut in January.
 
(Geek note: itasha customization trend has been featured for the first time by our otaku photographer Julie  in her  photobook Samurai Girl published at the beginning of last year way before japanese magazines recognised this phenomen).

Exciter Magazine featured one page deciated to Amano Ai DVD and Julie art photos.
There are other magazines and newspaper who coeverd the event but I can't find out all the names... damn, I should study more kanji!
Anyway I'm pretty impressed by Ai Chan because she is getting a lot of coverage without the support of a big media company. I think her really cool artworks  are helping being noticed by magazine editors and journalists.

Brandon di Insert Credit ci ha segnalato un blog giapponese pieno di macchine di FORZA MOTORSPORT 2 customizzate alla grande. In fondo alla pagina  ci sono quasi 300 link pieni di modelli castomizzati! Si potrebbe scrivere un saggio sulla cultura otaku giapponese per quanti sono i riferimenti e le citazioni presenti in queste castomizzazioni. Possiamo comunque dire che il motivo della rapida diffusione fra gli utenti giapponesi deriva dal fatto che macchine come queste esistono veramente in Giappone (Ad esempio nel parcheggio davanti a Yodobashi Camera di Akiba). Si tratta delle itaka (o itasha) un fenomeno presentato sul libro Samurai Girl di Julie.  dietro Qui ce ne sono alcuni ma vi consigliamo di visitare il blog  per scoprire le tante gemme raccolte che rappresentano una incredibile fotografia della stratificazione delle sottoculture otaku giapponesi. 



In alto la Wii car castomizzata all'interno di Forza Motorsport 2 mentre in basso ci sono le Wii Smart utilizzate per una campagna di guerrilla marketing in Canada.

(siamo certi che nei prossimi giorni queste immagini compariranno in giro per le solite riviste italiane che ovviamente dimenticheranno di citarne la fonte...)
