Retrothing this week  has posted several hardware porno news that you shouldn't miss (like Vintage Handheld Game Guts, The Big Three: 30 Years of Mass-Produced Home Computers and Vintage Computer Festival 10.0)

Today during the Frankfurt Bookfair I met William Pollock the master mind of the (already) legendary No Starch Press from San Francisco that recently released the geek bible: "Forbidden Lego".
During the next year seems that William will release some otaku oriented books, but we can't say anything right now or he will  kill us with a  Lego gun...



ps after attending so many events in Japan it has been kind of strange (or better, sexually shocking) to see so many grannies working as companions...

Yesterday more than 15.000 people attended the Akihabara speech of Taro Sato (left in the photo), Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs and possible successor to Prime Minister Abe Shinzo who had announced his plans to resign. Taro is a geek and loves manga so much that after Abe announced resignation shares of several manga publishers have rised significantly since he could be elected as new Prime Minister next 23th september. According to CNN Money,  Broccoli, which runs a string of retail stores catering to gamers and publishes comic books, rocketed 71 percent to close at ¥157. KitaKyushu - July 17th, Tmsuk Corporation (read TEMKAZU) announced the rescue robot “T-53 ENRYU” which has been developed to be used in case of disasters as a rescue robot.  This robot (size 140×232×280cm and 2.95t of weight) looks like coming out from the design sketches of our old friend Junji Okubo (mecha designer of the legendary Steel Battalion for  Xbox and author of the mechabook INDUSTRIAL DIVINITIES). Thanks to the official support of the government it's possibile to acquire an official "robot vehicle number"  so travelling on a normal road is legal for the first time. 


KitaKyushu - Il T53 è un HYPER RESCUE ROBOT realizzato dalla giapponese Tmsuk per essere utilizzato in situazioni di emergenza dove la presenza umana non è possibile.  Questo robot sembra uscito da uno dei disegna del nostro vecchio amico Junji Okubo (mecha designer del mitico Tekki per Xbox e autore del libro Industrial Divinities).
Grazie ad un accordo con il governo giapponese il T53 può anche essere dotato di una speciale targa per robot che permette a questo gioiello meccanico di circolare legalmente sulle strade!

Finalmente è arrivato il grande giorno, ma prima di correre al cinema vi consigliamo di leggere l'articolo pubblicato sull'ultimo numero di WIRED e visitare questo blog italiano dedicato ai Transformers e farvi una cultura su questa serie leggendaria (e sul film).
Buon Transformers Day e non dimenticate il videogioco ufficiale disponibile da domani per Playstation 3, Wii e tutte le principali piattaforme da gioco.

L’8 e il 9 di giugno a Montegridolfo  si è svolto il secondo raduno italiano delle DeLorean (la macchina protagonista della trilogia di Ritorno al Futuro) con l'intervento di alcuni doppiatori del celeberrimo film e un'interessante mostra con gadget e materiali provenienti dal set dello stesso. L'organizzazione è curata da Nicola F. Marcaccini: maniaco delle Delorean DMC12.

Finalmente lo shuttle è tornato nello spazio...
